Crowns
Dental crowns or caps have a variety of uses. The most common reason to need a crown is to protect a tooth that is damaged, either by decay or physically worn out. They are custom fit to match your neighboring teeth in both shape and color. We use digital scans to take our impressions and fabricate the crown in a single visit.
Crowns can also be used to improve the cosmetics of your smile. Ask our team if you are interested in learning more about cosmetic dentistry. Click here to learn more about the crown process.
Bridges
A dental bridge is one way we use to replace a missing tooth or teeth. A bridge requires there to be a tooth on either side of what is missing. Bridges are cemented in place on these neighboring teeth and are not removeable. Modern dental bridges are esthetic and strong, usually made from Zirconia and blend with your other teeth. Fillings or Bonding
Dental fillings are used to restore teeth that are damaged or decayed. Fillings are often tooth colored and blend in to be nearly invisible. Click to learn more about dental fillings.
Dental bonding uses composite to reshape your front teeth. The bonding will match your existing teeth and can be used to close spaces between teeth in some circumstances. Ask if you would be a candidate for dental bonding or if veneers may be an option to improve your smile.
Veneers
Veneers are used to improve your smile. Thin ceramics are bonding over the teeth to correct size, shape, or color of your teeth. Because they are made from ceramic, veneers are more durable and resistant to staining from the foods we eat and drink compared to composite bonding. If you are considering rehabilitating your smile, ask our team if veneers are an option. Click to learn more about veneers and smile design.
Root Canals
Root canals are a procedure used to place a filling inside the roots of a tooth. This filling takes the place of where the nerve and blood vessels were. We perform root canals when the nerve of the tooth is inflammed, which we most commonly think of as a toothache. Root canals are also done when the nerve of the tooth has died off and the tooth is likely to develop or has developed an infection. Click here to learn more about root canals.
Extractions
Sometimes a tooth must be removed. We perform extractions when a tooth is too broken or decayed to repair. It is important to replace teeth that are extracted in order to maintain the longevity of the remaining teeth. Click here to learn more about extractions and missing teeth.
Implants
Dental implants are a great tool in modern dentistry. Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, and region of missing teeth, or even an entire jaws worth of teeth. They can be used to anchors for a removable denture to give it more stability. Most commonly dental implants are used to replace a single missing tooth as an alternative to a dental bridge. Dental Checkups
Routine dental care and checkups are the best “insurance program” out there. Like you car needs regular maintenance and oil changes, our teeth and gums benefit greatly from regular exams and cleanings. Oral cancer is most often screened and discovered in a dental chair. Digital radiographs allow us to diagnose problems before they are noticible to the patient and can end up saving the patient quite a bit in the long run. Call us to schedule a checkup for your oral health.
Cleanings and Periodontal Maintenance
Your gums and supporting bone are the foundation for your teeth. Plaque and tartar naturally accumulate in our mouths over time despite even excellent home care with brushing and flossing. This tartar causes inflammation in our gums which then leads to bone loss around our teeth. This tartar must be regularly removed by a dental hygienest.
When there is no bone loss present around our teeth, the hygienest performs whats called a prophylaxis or a “prophy”. This implies that we are working to PREVENT periodontal disease, or bone loss around the teeth. Once we have bone loss around the teeth the hygienest will perform a Periodontal Maintenance. This maintenance appointment cleans deeper into the gum pockets and provides your best bet against further bone loss.
